Will we get any grants?

You can apply for a First Home Grant for your first house after you’ve been contributing to a KiwiSaver scheme for a minimum of 3 years. The First Home Grant can offer up to $10,000 per person or $20,000 per couple towards buying your first home. Kāinga Ora - Homes and Communities administers this grant.

You can design your plan to have up to 40% site coverage of your section. Example a 500m2 section can have a 200m2 house. Some different living zones for higher density housing may mean an exception to this rule.

Can you get more financial support from the Government?

Yes, with the new First Home Partner scheme - this is a shared ownership scheme by Kāinga Ora and part of the New Zealand Government’s Progressive Home Ownership Fund. The contribution Kāinga Ora will make towards purchasing the home with you will be a maximum contribution of 25% or $200,000, whichever is lower. Use the link below to find out more information
